Introduction

Welcome to this 5G RAN Deployments on OpenShift Lab.

The first part of this lab is an introduction to the required concepts that one needs to know when planning and running a 5G RAN Deployment on OpenShift. The second part is a practical scenario where we will run RAN-enabled OCP deployments by using the ZTP deployment technologies and methodologies.

The second part of this lab requires a lab environment, we recommend ordering the lab before starting the first part of this lab so by the time you end the first part of the lab, the environment should be ready. If you are a Red Hatter you can order a lab environment already setup for you on the Red Hat Demo Platform. You just need to order the lab named 5G RAN Deployment on OpenShift. Notice that it has a cost of ~ $56 to run through the lab. When the lab is launched, by default you will have 12 hours to complete it before it is destroyed. The estimated time to finish the lab might look like 12 hours total (2h provisioning time, 5h lab work, 5h margin). If you need further time, it can be manually extended up to 24h in total. Who is this lab aimed at?

The lab is aimed to technical profiles working with OpenShift who are interested in any of these areas:

  • Interested in GitOps management of a fleet of clusters.

  • Working with telecom customers/partners in projects involving RAN workloads.

The lab is based on the following software versions.

  • HUB Cluster OpenShift v4.12.5.

  • SNO Cluster OpenShift v4.12.3 and v4.12.5.

  • RHACM v2.7.

  • MCE v2.2.

  • PolicyGenTool v4.12.
